Car Park Line Marking – From ferry to Finish

22nd July 2020by aperturemarketingukNews

We all know the importance of using car park line marking to prevent confusion when using car parks. If done well, the line markings clearly define where the customer should park, all the while improving health and safety.

The use of car parks is a vital necessity of any road users life, knowing where to park their vehicles and that they’re safe. Line markings are an essential aid to an efficient car park – without them, a car park invites havoc and potential losses due to undefined parking spaces.

If an accident does occur at a car parking property, the authority may charge the owner of the car park for unclear line markings; therefore, a car park owner could be liable – an easy way to prevent this is with clearly laid out line markings.

This week, the programming department at Riggotts sent a team to Stornoway, Scotland. The 589-mile journey, which included a ferry crossing, took the team around ten hours to get to the site.

Once the team arrived and had a good nights rest, they soon got to work. Working on a freshly resurfaced car park and carrying the works out in thermoplastic meant for the perfect conditions for optimum adhesion.

After completing over 1500 meters of car park line marking the crew set off on the long journey back to the Riggotts HQ – they even called in at another site on the way in order to complete more car park line markings before stopping for a well-deserved night’s sleep.

Our crews pride themselves on their abilities and quality of work, regularly going above and beyond for our clients. A testament to this can be found in the array of jobs completed every day.

If you like what you hear and require any of our car park line marking services, please get in touch. We operate nationally and more recently internationally, all the while delivering outstanding multi-story line markings without compromising on quality. So, no matter the size, budget, location or deadline, we’ve got you covered.

Multi-Story Line Marking for Purfleet Multi-Story Car Park

29th June 2020by aperturemarketingukNews

Multi-story car parks give its users the chance to park their vehicles close to where they need to go – more often seen in town or city centres. The car parks use a smaller ground space while utilising the area above the ground floor, usually with over five levels to increase the car parks capacity and encourage its users to park there.

I think we all know the benefits of a multi-story car park – they save space, are incredibly efficient and designed to withstand heavy and varying loads as well as the stresses that are imposed with moving vehicles. Sizes do vary; however, the average multi-story car park in the UK has capacity for over 500 cars.

As more and more people are using cars and therefore multi-story car parks, maintenance on these car storing machines is on the increase year on year. At Riggotts, we can provide an array of multi-story line marking options to suit the needs for any multi-story car park.

This month the Riggotts paint crew carried out essential multi-story line marking works in Purfleet, London. The team carried out nearly ten thousand 300mm letters and numbers in single pack epoxy paint – numbering the spaces.

Single pack epoxy paint is durable and vibrant due to the advanced pigment technologies in the paint itself, giving it its vibrant colours and strong durability.

If you like what you hear and require any of our multi-story line marking services, please get in touch. We operate nationally and more recently internationally, all the while delivering outstanding multi-story line markings without compromising on quality. So, no matter the size, location or deadline, we’ve got you covered.

Implementing a brand new cats eye fixing machine

23rd June 2020by aperturemarketingukNews

Invented in 1933 and first implemented on the UK roads in 1937, Cats eyes have played a considerable role in the health and safety aspects of roads in the UK for years and are still in use today.

Used in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes modern-day cats eyes are incredibly effective in showing traffic flow and warning road users of potentially hazardous areas, such as, determining roadsides and alerting drivers to slip roads.

Modern-day cats eyes can be produced in a variety of different colours which all have different meanings.

• White cats eyes separate lanes and design the middle of single carriageway roads

• Red cats eyes warn roads users they’re near the left edge of a road.

• Amber cats eyes warn drivers of the central reservation when using roads such as motorways.

• Green cats eyes determine the edge of a motorway / dual carriageway where laybys or rest areas exit the main road.

• Yellow cats eyes warm drivers of temporary changes to lane layouts when road works are taking place.

Now that we’ve covered a brief history and what each cats eye colour means – Riggotts have just taken delivery of a brand new cats eye fixing/extruding machine which will half the time spent cats eye fixing/installing.

Rigged with an arsenal of new features, the new cats eye fixing machine is equipped with twin boilers, for line marking, reducing the number of vehicles needed on-site and with dual processors, doubling the time spent fixing cats eyes, saving our clients time and money. The truck itself has the latest eco-technology improving emissions and call-out costs.

Thanking our NHS with Top Notch Line Markings

28th May 2020by aperturemarketingukNews

Continuing with the theme of showing support for the NHS and all key workers during these difficult times, we have carried out essential works for Grimsby Council outside the NHS Grimsby hospital.

During our visit to NHS Grimsby, we carried out over 30 metres of 100mm double yellow lining, clearly marking no parking areas around the hospital grounds. To show our appreciation and that of Grimsby Council, we also carried out lettering spelling “Thank you NHS”.

It’s only a small gesture of appreciation, but every person who drives over this small signage will see and hopefully feel the same way. We are all very thankful for the hard work of all key workers while the rest of us are contained in lockdown.

Parking restrictions in the UK have been in use since the 1920s, with the primary goal of preventing vehicles parking on the roadside.

Double yellow lines are the most common parking restriction used – they do not allow vehicles to wait at the side of the road at any time.

However, loading or unloading from the vehicle is permitted, and dropping off or picking passengers is also permitted.

Single yellow lines have different rules. Near a single yellow line, there will be an upright sign with information about when vehicles are allowed to park – this could exclude certain times of the day or weekdays for example.

If you like what you hear and require any of our line marking services, please get in touch. We operate nationally and more recently internationally, all the while delivering outstanding line markings without compromising on quality. So, no matter the size, location or deadline, we’ve got you covered.

Forecourt Line Markings for Jaguar Land Rover

30th April 2020by aperturemarketingukNews

To take our minds away from the current pandemic that is Coronavirus, we’re shedding light on some of the other projects our crews have completed earlier on in the year.

This time our experienced crews headed down to Sunbury-on-Thames, to carry out and deliver forecourt line markings for Jaguar Land Rover at one of their dealerships.

Our experience in delivering forecourt line markings has allowed us to quickly understand what is needed to deliver on time, to budget and to adhere to time restraints.

The project consisted of four arrows, give way markings including 28 pads and one give way triangle, 21 1200mm letters, nine meters squared of solid area markings, eleven meters of lining and the installation of 25 preform markings reading ‘CUSTOMER PARKING.’ The project was delivered in just one day – transforming their premises with a refreshing new look.

All the above works were carried out in thermoplastic paint, a durable material perfect for a surface such as a car dealership forecourt – a surface with very high volumes of traffic.

In addition to thermoplastic being very durable, the material also carries anti-slip properties – increasing the health and safety value of the markings as well as the initial design in which the markings were laid.

The layout of the forecourt added to health and safety by directing traffic through the one-way system and outlined where customers can park safely and efficiently.

If you like what you hear and require any of our forecourt line marking services, please get in touch. We operate nationally and more recently internationally, all the while delivering outstanding line markings without compromising on quality. So, no matter the size, location or deadline, we’ve got you covered.

Infrastructure road markings at NHS Nightingale

27th April 2020by aperturemarketingukNews

With Coronavirus (COVID-19) still on the rise and the UK still in lockdown, our crews are still hard at work carrying out essential projects.

Riggotts recently carried out a helipad installation project at the NHS Nightingale Hospital in London with only one day’s notice, a true testament to our philosophy that we try to complete any job no matter the size, deadline or budget.

This time with only eight hours’ notice, our crew carried out infrastructure road markings seamlessly, allowing the all-important emergency services and front-line workers to safely navigate the previously unmarked roads leading up to the NHS Nightingale itself. The project consisted of a multitude of road line markings, signage and lettering, making the roads safer for all who would use them.

So, what are the safety benefits of infrastructure road markings?
One of the most important advantages to using infrastructure road markings is the improvement of road safety that comes with them.

Infrastructure road markings can be made to be highly reflective, making them much easier to see at night, and in adverse weather conditions where visibility is drastically reduced in comparison to unmarked or poorly marked roads.

When using thermoplastic infrastructure road markings, the thermoplastic is layered, building up to create rumble strips which provide drivers with physical feedback in the form of prominent vibration and loud rumbling noise. This helps raise awareness of imminent danger spots and alerts drivers to their speed, resulting in less frequent crashes and accidents.

If you like what you hear and require any of our services, please get in touch. We operate nationally and more recently internationally, all the while delivering outstanding line markings without compromising on quality. So, no matter the size, location or deadline, we’ve got you covered.

You can contact us via Freephone on 0800 8488 414, via email at webenquiries@riggott.co.uk or via the contact page. Talk soon.

The Riggotts team was asked to provide urgent works at London’s NHS Nightingale hospital located inside the ExCeL Centre, and with time being a crucial factor in completing this project, they had to act fast.

In just nine days, the ExCeL Centre now can facilitate for around 4000 patients, with more than 80 wards, each with 42 fully equipped beds to manage the critical care some COVID-19 patients need. If the hospital reaches capacity, it will be one of the largest in the world.

The power you’re supplying. It’s electrifying.

29th February 2020by aperturemarketingukNews

As tensions in the world rise when regarding the evergrowing threat of global warming, Riggotts are leading the way in electric vehicle charging bay installations, with over 10,000 completed nationally to date, electrifying the way for greener energy.

Not only is this a greener source of energy but is cleaner too – no more C02 emissions and toxic gasses are emitted through the combustion of fossil fuels – reducing the greenhouse gas effect on our planet.

This time the Riggotts paint crew was called out to a site in Bournemouth, which called for the line marking of two electric vehicle charging bays. In total, the experienced team carried out two custom made Instavolt Logos, eighteen letters and 44 metres of line marking; Riggotts lined the works in a single pack epoxy paint to ensure strength and durability.

Did you know that Riggotts can create any design and use it in a specially tailored stencil for your business? Well they can, a perfect example of this is with the InstaVolt logos. Whatever the design, Riggotts can deliver.

Keeping in with a green theme, Riggotts line marking has invested in several new paint spray machines – one that doesn’t run on the standard fossil fuel but is entirely electric. This not only improves the health and safety aspects of working with the machine but improves the carbon footprint of Riggotts itself.

Another way Riggotts have adopted a greener form of working is their ultra line marking service. A paint that is instantly cured by ultraviolet light – reducing time spent on-site and only requires electricity to power the strong light source.

Providing Pedigree Anti Skid Line Markings for R F Racing Ltd

25th February 2020by aperturemarketingukNews

Richard Fahey Racing Ltd required the thoroughbred pedigree that Riggotts offer to deliver adequate anti-slip resistance to their surfaces to ensure their horses and staff stay safe while on site.

The North Yorkshire based company has made significant improvements to their yard, including the addition of 44 extra stables and furlong indoor riding facilities. The mile-long all-weather and grass gallops cater for over 200 horses each day.

The existing anti-skid line markings on-site had deteriorated and posed a risk to staff and to the safety of the horses which use the yard every day.

With such a heavily used yard area R F Racing Ltd decided they needed to take immediate action to provide necessary safety defences.

During our visit to R F Racing Ltd, the Riggotts thermoplastic anti-skid line marking crew laid a total of 657 square metres of highly resistant anti-slip material at their training facility located on the edge of the Howardian Hills in North Yorkshire a place that can expect inclement weather during the winter months.

Using specially developed slip-resistant materials, we created a high-specification surface that will increase safety for vehicles, animals and people at the facility all year round. Giving R F Racing Ltd peace of mind during any type of inclement weather.

Riggotts were called upon for this project due to our exceptional workmanship. As we’d carried out similar work for the same company previously, they were well aware of the high standards we would deliver.

With our experienced team taking care of the surfaces on-site, RF Racing Ltd could concentrate on galloping home to even more victories in the future events.

If you need any expert advice or require works at your site regarding slip resistant anti skid line markings, speak to one of our experienced team members today, via freephone or email for your free quote.

Crew Deliver Health and Safety Line Markings in Chilton

30th January 2020by aperturemarketingukNews

Having clear and concise line markings is a health and safety obligation and often can be required by law.

Workplace safety is paramount, and one of the best ways to ensure this is with line markings designed to improve health and safety and reduce the likelihood of an accident.

We know for certain types of businesses line markings are essential for day to day operations. Distribution centres and warehouses are amongst these businesses, as the vehicles which operate at these sites are more often bigger and more dangerous.

With over 25 years of experience and more than 800 decades combined in our workforce, we know that sometimes work simply can’t stop. To reduce disruption, we have products such as Ultra Line Marking and other quick-drying paints to get the job done with minimal disturbance.

As well as quick-drying paints, we offer textured paints which provide grip. This grip, in turn, acts as another health and safety method by helping to prevent falls on slippery surfaces – particularly around areas such as entrances or exits.

When we visit your site, we don’t just provide line markings which last, but we offer line markings which comply with not only our standards but those of the HSE too.

Recently, Riggotts provided health and safety line markings at a site in Chilton. These external works will be used to reduce accidents and possible injuries, protecting the people at risk of injury when walking outside.

After the correct surface preparations and line removal, the crew on-site delivered new hatched areas, pedestrian walkways and zebra crossings while removing existing markings to make way for updated and safer routes around the site.

Magor Distribution Centre requires a full refresh

24th January 2020by aperturemarketingukNews

The hustle and bustle of a fully functioning distribution centre is hard to compare with – the amount of traffic and other HGV vehicles which roam these vast centres are known offenders for accentuating line marking wear and tear.

To combat such line marking munching machines, Riggotts have the perfect recipe for sustaining and improving the longevity of line markings on-site – correct surface preparation and improved sealing to ensure complete adhesion.

Looking to Wales and stepping back almost 15 years – Riggotts completed this colossal distribution centre for Wilkinsons in Magor, a large village in Monmouthshire, South-East Wales.

The Wilkinsons Distribution centre has been a client of Riggotts for almost 15 years since the site was initially opened 15 years ago. When they required a complete line marking refresh, we knew precisely what to do.

After a significant resurfacing program, one of the Riggotts Thermoplastic teams was on the way to completely reline and refresh the newly finished surface.

With thousands of metres of line marking already completed on the Magor project, the Riggotts team have kept to their stringent time scale – minimising client disruptions.

Togeather, the new thermoplastic line markings and resurfaced tarmac make the perfect conditions for adhesion, extending the life of the line markings.

In addition to improving the aesthetics of the site, the new and improved line markings add to upgraded health and safety while enhancing the efficiency of the highly used roadways.

Improving efficiency doesn’t just improve the speed; it saves valuable time and money, which then can be put to good use elsewhere.
