Riggotts Line Car Park at New Ikea in Reading

The brand new Ikea in Reading opened its doors on 14 July, much to the excitement of the well-known furniture retailer’s UK fans. Ikea designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, appliances and home accessories that are popular worldwide. Ikea currently operates 384 stores across 48 countries, and its iconic blue and yellow warehouses are often conveniently located near major motorways. Reading’s new 32,000 square metre store marks the UK’s 19^th Ikea location and the first to open its doors in over seven years. Best of all, the new location has generated over 350 new jobs, with more than 90% of available positions filled by people from the local area.

Riggotts were subcontracted by Marron Civil Engineering to line the store’s multi-storey, 1,000 bay car park. Using thermoplastic, one pack epoxy and sealer, the Riggotts team laid down over 10,000m of lining. Aside from parking bay lines, the team added pedestrian logos, parent & child and disabled bays, give way markings, over 50 arrows, and lettering.
